Christopher Birkinbine
Chris is a Range Systems Engineer at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center, where he designs, builds and tests telemetry systems used in the transfer of data between test vehicles and the control room. Chris received his B.S. in Applied Physics from the University of Idaho in 2013 where he participated in undergraduate research programs specializing in field cooled and no field cooled superconductive levitation involving halbach arrays as well as nanospring construction via atomic layer deposition. Chris intends on pursuing a PhD in Aerospace Science after finishing his M.S. in Space studies with an emphasis on Space Engineering. Born in Boise, Idaho, Chris attended Boise High School, after which he joined the United States Army as a Combat Engineer. He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004 and was Honorably discharged as a Non-Commissioned Officer in 2008. In his spare time, Chris serves as the President of the Southern Kern Aeronautics and Rocketry club, a chartered chapter of the National Association of Rocketry, where he organizes launches and teaches STEM related courses with his son to local schools and adults in the community.
